We Thank You for Keeping Our Communities Safe

May was an important month as we celebrated and honored the heroes who work hard to safeguard the health, safety and well-being of our communities – public service officials, firefighters, police officers, and more.

At CentralSquare, we are grateful for the brave men and women who dedicate their lives to making our communities safer and stronger. We give this well-deserved recognition not only throughout May, but year-round as we understand the tremendous impact these individuals make on our lives each and every day.

As we closed out May, I want to recap the groups we honored throughout the month, below, and say thank you to all.

May 1-7 – National Public Service Week: This is a new – but important – proclamation from the Biden Administration this year as we recognize and applaud the public servants who make crucial contributions to every community in America. This includes those who educate our children, keep our communities safe, defend our country, deliver our mail, maintain our roads and bridges, develop cures for diseases, improve sustainability, and care for our veterans – among countless other essential services that keep our country safe and propel us forward.

May 4 – International Firefighters Day: Firefighters dedicate their lives to protecting life and property. We recognize and honor the sacrifices firefighters have made as they fearlessly answer the call for help in sometimes treacherous heat and flames, risking their own lives to save others.

May 15-21 – National Police Week: We are proud to support and honor America’s law enforcement community, with special recognition to the officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. We are grateful for your deep commitment to safety.

May 15-21 – National Public Works Week: With this year’s theme of “Ready and Resilient”, we honored every public works professional – including the people, agencies, and organizations that plan, build, and maintain our communities. These individuals are always ready to serve their communities and are resilient as ever to overcome challenges along the way.

May 30 - Memorial Day: We honor and remember those who sacrificed their life while serving in the U.S. armed forces. Our gratitude to those who serve, and their families, is beyond measure.

Finally, let us not forget that Mental Health Awareness Month is observed during the month of May. I consider myself lucky to serve on the Executive Committee of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention. Mental Health impacts us all — it is essential to our overall health and well-being, and mental health struggles are common. I'm encouraged to see the progress we are making as a country to better serve those in need. Thank you to each and every person dedicated to responding to and caring for citizens’ physical and mental well-being. And thank you to our government agencies and employees who are making our community better, by building, supporting, and maintaining critical institutions and operations – your service does not go unnoticed.

At CentralSquare, we strive to provide innovative technology that empowers public safety and public administration agencies to build safer and smarter communities. We thank you for your partnership, and hope that we can only continue to make your jobs easier.
