On June 25th, Clear Conscience Cafe , Harvest Coop Markets and Cambridge Local First jointly sponsored the first Shiftmob and 10% shift . The event was designed to remind community members about the value of using locally owned and operated businesses and the value that has in reclaiming your own local economy, creating jobs, and keeping our own stimulus money in our own community. There were live musical performances, city officials, and tons of community members who came out. One of the amazing qualities of Central Square is that it's home to a lot of independent business operations. Susan Young presented a superb exhibit of portraits of the men and women who represent that unique group of Cantabrigians. It runs through July 12th. If you don't know whose a local business in Central Square, you can visit the Clear Conscience Cafe and be introduced to some of them on the wall or view the exhibit here . |
