Chatham County, Ga., Selects CentralSquare Technologies for Solutions to Interoperability

An outdated communication system created coordination issues between Chatham County, Georgia’s county agencies and hampered response times.

Chatham County’s Challenge

Chatham County, on the Atlantic coast, is the most populous Georgia county outside the Atlanta metropolitan area with nearly 300,000 residents. The county seat and largest city is Savannah. Chatham County covers 632 square miles, of which nearly 33% is covered by water.

Like many municipalities, Chatham County struggled to cope with an aging legacy communication system that did not allow for interoperability between its nine participating agencies, including the Chatham County Police Department, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and Chatham Emergency Services. Coordination between agencies was difficult, and the county wanted to ensure response times were as low as possible. In addition, the system required frequent and costly modifications.

CentralSquare’s Solution

To address those interoperability issues, Chatham Count selected CentralSquare’s Enterprise Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management System (RMS), Mobile and Analytics solution to replace the legacy system.

The county needed the ability to access all records information quickly and in a streamlined format and CentralSquare’s Records Management Solution offered the ability to store digital evidence in a single convenient location. The Mobile solution provided Chatham County with instant access to critical background, incident and mapping information that propelled their information access. To help teams prioritize and strategize more effectively, CentralSquare Analytics solution helped Chatham County to leverage artificial intelligence to collect and track the information.

“They met the technical requirements and had features such as CLQ, auto dispatch, and reporting that exceeded their requirements,” Lewis said.

Features and Benefits

With CentralSquare’s Enterprise CAD, RMS, Mobile and Analytics solution, Chatham County will be able to reach its goals of decreasing response times and increasing its ability to share resources and appropriately dispatch first responders as needed for mass incidents. By replacing their aging legacy system, the county will no longer have to make constant modifications to their system, saving them time and money.

Chatham County is anticipating cost savings with the CentralSquare solution due to the configurability and the training that will be provided by the CentralSquare team on how to manage the software themselves, giving them fewer IT headaches.
